• Mr. Pranab Mukherjee became the President of India on 19 July 2012. He defeated A.P.Sangma from a huge margin in elections.
• Mr. Jagdish Chettar has become the new Chief Minister of Karnataka on 12 July 2012. Earlier Sadanand Gowda was the CM of Karnataka.
• Indian Western Ghats mountain ranges are included in the World Heritage List by UNESCO.
• Like National Rural Health Mission (NRHM), National Urban Health Mission (NUHM) will soon be launched. This announcement was made by Dr. Manmohan Singh in a seminar in Jawahar Lal Nehru Institute of Post Graduate Medical Education and Research at Putuchery.
• In reply to an RTI by an activist, Home Ministry’s Director and Public Information Officer told that Mahatma Gandhi was not given the name of “Rashtrapita” officialy. On the basis of his publicity and public figure among people of India he is called so.
• On the matter of Singur plant, Tata motors was provided relief when Kolkata High Court declared Singur Land Rehabilitation and Development Act 2011 illegal. Mamta Banerjee’s headed West Bengal Government was shocked hearing this petition of the Kolkata High Court.
• Five Indian Cricketers were banned by the BCCI after they were found guilty of spot fixing in IPL. The private TV channel conducted a sting operation to highlight this. The Cricketers found guilty were: [T.P. Sudhindra (M.P.) (Life time Ban)], [Shalabh Srivastava (U.P.) (5 years Ban)], [Mohinish Mishra (M.P.) (1 year Ban)], [Amit Yadav (Goa) (1 year Ban)] and [Abhinav Wali (H.P.) (1 year Ban)].
• K. Parasaran and Mrinal Miri are newly nominated members of Rajya Sabha. This decision was taken by Home Ministry on 28 June 2012 under section 80 of the Indian Constitution.
• Mr. Veer Bhadra Singh, the Central Minister of Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) has given his resignation after a special court of Shimla has declared him corrupt on 25 June, 2012. He was declared corrupt on a matter which was 23 years old when he was he C.M. of Himanchal Pradesh.
• Gen. Bikram Singh, the Army Chief of India was given the roll of honor as the General of Nepal Army when President of Nepal Mr. Rambaran Yadav announced this on 11 July 2012 in a meeting in President House of Kathmandu.
• U.P. Government has decided that the applicants up to 40 years of age will be allowed to sit in a State Level exam. Earlier the limit was 35 years. U.P. Government has also decided this 40 years age limit as the limit to receive the Allowance for Unemployment (Berojgari Bhatta).
• Enrique Mena Nieto was elected the new President of Mexico. He will hold the office of President of Mexico in December, 2012.
• Greece will remain included in the Euro Zone due to the constitution of ‘Bail Out’ supportive Government in the Parliamentary Elections.
• Shanghai Co-operative Organization’s 12th Summit was organized at Beijing, China on 6-7 June, 2012. Next year the same is proposed to happen at Kirgistan. 6 Members are included in this group. Russia, China, Kzakhistan, Tajikistan, Kirgistan and Uzbekistan are the six members.
