1. Survey found that hardly 58 % of rural households in India are engaged in farming activity.
2. Only about 9 crore Rural Households are agricultural with their at least one member self-employed in farming
3. Only 68.3 percent of these 9 Crore reported farming activities as their main source of income and mere 39.5 % of rural households today are dependent on agriculture
4. Uttar Pradesh has about 20 % of all agricultural households. Rajasthan having highest percentage of agricultural households (78.4 %) in its rural households and Kerala had only 27.3 percent rural households as agricultural.
